![]() Featured Photo This is a second permutation of this site. Over the past years, I have collected a number of images that are too good to sit in files in my darkroom, to languish in the Carousel (tm) slide trays, or to sit on my computer hard drive or on a CDROM. This site was to be an attempt to get some of the images out into the public and perhaps to sell a few of the images. (Maybe even enough to pay for the web site??) For now, this site will be reserved for current digital images. Scans from 35mm Ektachrome slides and from 120 Ektachrome slides will have to go elsewhere. The digital imagery is an experiment. At the present time, film images have several orders of magnitude better resolution than the best digital images. What it comes down to is how the images will be used. Newspaper and magazine images are, at best, only about 133 dpi -- so... If that is your target market, perhaps digital will have adequate resolution. But that's another discussion. I have a few Black & White images from my Grandfather's Kodak 3A Special that may be of historic interest. They are on 3.5 x 5 glass plates. I am also experimenting with Quicktime VR (tm) images. You will see them as I have time to scan and to publish them. I was planning to try to publish images so you could download an 7.5 x 10 image at 72 dpi. Unfortunately, due to the limited storage space on this site (20 MB - I am trying to stay within the 'free' hosting limits), I have had to limit image size to 3.75 x 5 at 72 dpi. that should be good enough for you to get a feel for the images and should be good enough for cards or for some web images. You can use these images freely for single use, educational or non-commercial projects as long as you leave the copyright (c) line on the print. Contact me if you need more resolution or have some other use in mind. The originals of most of these images are also available as TIFFs so you can get an 11 x 14 print at 300 dpi. We'll see how this works and then make changes as necessary. The latest change is that I am posting many of these photos in public access albums on DotPhoto.com. As I complete the albums, you will be able to order prints from DotPhoto and have them sent directly to you. I will try to include a DotPhoto banner on gallery pages that have been converted to albums. While developing this site, it occurred to me that there must be others who, like me, have images that they wish to disseminate / publish / share. My annotated page template is at: www.jagnowphoto.com/template.htm. I have tried to make a template that doesn't use Javascript, or animations and will have about the same look with various versions of NetScape or Internet Explorer. Just do a 'view source' and copy the html for your pages, making the appropriate changes as you go. Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks. |
